6 Easy Steps on How to Clean Your Humidifier

Mold and microbes also grow in the prime places of your humidifier, which makes it pump unhealthy quality of air. If you have allergies or someone in your home is suffering from respiratory problems, it’s best to clean your humidifier twice or thrice a week. Keep your humidifier in tip-top shape by following these tips.

What You’ll Need

  • Distilled white vinegar
  • A small, soft brush (toothbrush or nylon dish brush)

Note: Avoid using abrasive brushes or detergents since these tools can damage your humidifier.

How to Clean Your Humidifier

  1. Turn off our humidifier, throw out the remaining water, and disassemble it completely.
  2. For the base and tank, place one to two cups of undiluted white vinegar & water and let it swish around to fully wet the interior of the water tank.
  3. Allow the vinegar mix to drain into the reservoir. Leave it for 20 minutes.
  4. Dispose of the vinegar mix and use a toothbrush to scrub crevices and stuck-on mineral particles.
  5. For small parts of your humidifier, wipe it with a cloth dipped in white vinegar.
  6. Thoroughly rinse all the parts and let them dry, then reassemble.
