From plastic plates to tattered bedding, here are the top home items to ditch in your 30s. Let go of your bean bag, please.

Decorating your space in your 20s can be limited by your budget, and of course, the style of your roommate. You could say that it was the best of times, it was the worst of times. However, once you reach your 30s, everything about your home changes. From your interior style to the home items you decorate your space, and no matter how much you love and cherish the items you bought in your 20s, the style may not fit in your ‘grown-up’ space anymore.

So, if you’re ready to graduate from your 20-something style, here are the home items to ditch once you reach your 30s.

Chipped & Mismatched Dinnerware

Yes, it’s time to toss your chipped and mismatched dinnerware, and that includes plastic plates you have since college. Now is the best time to buy a full set of tableware that perfectly goes well with your home’s style. It’s also best to invest in a classic white dinner set since you can use it on any occasion. Plus, one of the exciting parts of your 30s is hosting lunch or dinner gatherings, so make sure to invest in quality dinnerware that will impress your guests.

Furniture Sets

One of the home items to ditch in your 30s is furniture sets. Whether you inherited it from your family or bought it at a great deal in your 20s, it’s time to break up the bundle and opt for mix and match pieces that will add character to your space.

Random Hand-Me-Downs

We all have decor donations from family members or friends that moved out. Of course, in your 20s, you really don’t have the budget to buy items for your place, so you willingly accept all these random hand-me-downs. The result? A garage sale interior style. However, once you hit your 30s, it’s time to let go of these decor donations and start investing in furnishings that reflect who you are and go well with your aesthetic.

Tattered Bedding

Tattered bedding or budget bed linen is one of the home items to ditch in your 30s. Personally, we feel sorry for those tattered bedding that is still in use. Your 30s is the time to invest in quality linen that you can use for many years. Plus, it will make your bedroom look cozy and inviting.

Uncomfortable Furniture

Yes, that includes your bean bag. No one in their 30s should still have a bean bag in their space. Let’s also include lumpy futons. Instead of feeling comfortable while sitting, it might cause you back pain, and we’re all aware that back pain in your 30s is no joke. Invest in durable and well-constructed furnishings that can provide proper support. Yes, it might be a bit pricey, but these are furnishings you can use for a long time, even in your mid-30s to 40s.

You will thank yourself for ditching these home items in your 30s. Remember, your 30s is the time to invest in quality furnishings and décor pieces that will stand the test of time. Plus, your home wouldn’t feel like a ‘grown-up’ space unless you toss these home items. Want a fresh start? Check out these home items you should throw this new year.
