True story: when I received Jordyn’s home tour email, I didn’t say anything except for “10,000 square feet!? Oh my god.” This modern farmhouse home is literally everyone’s dream home. It’s bright, chic, and warm. Picture-perfect in every corner. It’s everything that a modern farmhouse should be. No wonder Jordyn said that they’re so happy to be finally home!

Located in the wheat fields of Spokane, Washington, Jordyn and her husband built and designed the whole place from scratch. Yes, literally. The couple drew it on paper and away they went (for real though. Instagram and Pinterest wasn’t much part of the process.) while also being pregnant and raising kids. Amazing, huh? The home they have created is full of personality and charm (plus, really cozy), but also has a timeless quality to it.

Jordyn is still on the process of designing her eight bedrooms and five bathrooms (phew! That’s a lot!) to create a home that is calm, inviting, and filled with personal touches. The most crucial aspect for Jordyn is to create a casual, organic-feeling interior, and serene space that reflects the beauty of the natural environment outside. So, you’ll see a lot of marble and quartz, a palette of black and white with a little green and grey, and lots of wood furniture and beams.

Jordyn worked hard on designing this space into their forever home. She shares her DIY projects, tips, and home decor on her Instagram page. Let’s take a tour of Jordyn’s calm and relaxed modern farmhouse home. Trust me, it will whisk you away to the country all without leaving your seat.

Tell us something about your home

My husband and I found our dream property three years ago, and after much planning and designing, we began the process of our build. We live on 10 acres in the country of Spokane wheat fields. One of my favorite things about our location is the wheat fields and zen they provide.

I knew I wanted a farmhouse type of home and incorporated a lot of farmhouse style but modern flair to the design. Most of the design is black and white throughout the house. However, I’ve had a blast changing up the kids’ rooms and nursery to have some of their own styles and flair.

A fun fact is that I did not have much of an Instagram presence during the design of the home, so most of the style is 100% authentic, and built from my non-designer knowledge. It was a very fun process, and we’re so happy to be home!

Describe your interior style

It’s a very modern farmhouse with some traditional vibes. I love having a theme throughout the home of black and white, but wanted the additional warmth of wood, so we added in the wood beams throughout the main floor living space. I love having the same colors and tones throughout our home. I’d say I’m a neutral lover at heart.

Tip: Create a modern farmhouse home by keeping it clean and uncluttered. Use clean and simple accents like indoor plants. This gives a natural vibe to the space. Plus, use varying textures to make your home look interesting, inviting, and warm.

What is your favorite part of your home and why?

My favorite part of my home is the main floor living. We designed it with kids in mind and functionality. It fits us perfectly. From the separate kid’s room and own laundry room, I couldn’t be happier with the spaces we created to make our lives just a little simpler.

What is your least favorite part of your home and why?

This is a tough one. Probably all the stairs with being pregnant. But in honesty, I’m not sure I hate anything about our home. It’s just how we envisioned it.

Where do you get your inspiration from?

Pinterest and Instagram.

Tip: Use a soothing color palette with rustic furnishings like wood beams and wood bed frame to achieve a cozy and relaxing modern farmhouse style bedroom.
