Carefree, relaxed, and stylish. These are the words that instantly popped into our heads when we saw Ana’s bohemian chic home. Ana, a home décor enthusiast and owner of Modern House Vibes, lives in Queens, New York City, with her husband and three kids.

Ana’s home is a fitting escape from the busy and loud city of New York. It exudes a lot of that collected boho vibe; clean-lined furnishings, natural woven textures, plenty of prints and textiles, warm-toned wood, and plants. Lots and lots of plants! Ana has thoughtfully used and maximized every available space in her home.

Our favorite element of her home is the super cozy living room. It’s the perfect spot to chill and relax with your family after a hectic day. How can we ignore the brilliant and chic color blocking and stylish sideboard? It is a wonderful collection of boho chic items, such as ceramic vases, the hanging fringe décor, woven trays, and beautiful plants. She perfectly nailed it, which means it’s totally our style!

The careful combination and layers of colors, patterns, and textures are what makes Ana’s bohemian chic home unique. She’s not afraid to use décor and styles that don’t usually go together conventionally. Although Ana’s home is filled with bold hues, the white walls brought a lot of visual space into the equation.

Tell us something about your home

We moved into this home after renting a smaller two-family home that we grew out of. After having our third kid, we needed a bigger space with a back yard. We really love our neighborhood, and this is where we grew up, so it was important for us to stay here.

Tip: Add a little something extra to your home with color blocking, like Ana’s walls. It will take your walls and home’s style to a whole new level.

Describe your interior style

I don’t think I have a specific style. I like to mix styles, but I’m really loving everything boho right now.

Tip: Beautiful, lush plants add a bohemian chic vibe to your home. Don’t forget to pay special attention to the planters. You can either go bold with patterns or simple, like Omysa’s Large Round Planter.

What is your favorite part of your home and why?

My favorite part is our living room. We spend most of our time there and just having a cozy space to relax as a family is important. It’s also what you see when you first walk in.

Tip: Ana definitely embraces a “more is more” philosophy in her bohemian chic home. The key to recreating Ana’s bohemian chic home is to mix and match, like combining natural, basic materials with chenille and silk.

What is your least favorite part of your home and why?

The kitchen. It’s an older kitchen and was remodeled probably in the late ’90s but with very budget-friendly materials, and it’s definitely not my style at all.

Where do you get your inspiration from?

I get my inspiration from Pinterest, and I really love Studio McGee. I don’t usually plan out a space when decorating it. I really just buy pieces that I love and decorate as I go.

Dream home design advice/tips you want to share?

My biggest advice is to decorate one space at a time, so it’s not so overwhelming, and stay true to your style.

What are your recommended places to shop?

My favorite places to shop are Anthropology, H&M Home, and Home Goods.

Who would have thought that Ana’s home is located in one of the busiest cities in the entire world? Her home feels like a bohemian hideaway. Have we mentioned we are obsessed with the pastel pink color blocking wall? We’re thinking we may just need to paint our walls with this style ASAP.
